Searching Archived NOTAMs

Now let's find some old NOTAMs. Click the Change Search button, and then on the drop down selecter on the left, currently showing Location. The options list drops down, and we'll select Archive Search from it.

The display changes to dark mode, and an overlay displays another disclaimer dialogue. Click the Yes button to proceed.

Now we have the archive search controls and you see that the main difference is the extra entry box labelled Date.

Click into the Date entry, and a graphical date selecter appears. Initially this shows the dates of the current month. If the date you require is in the current month, just click to select.

You can change month with the forwards and backwards arrow buttons. Or you can click on the month indicator between them, to get the month selecter.

Similarly, by clicking the year button between the arrows, you get the year selecter. Note that although the selecter shows earlier years available, for me the search has never returned NOTAMs from earlier than summer 2020.

Here I have selected 2023-03-21 and EHVK (Volkel Air Base). Once you have selected the date and entered a location, click Search to proceed.

The results are displayed in a similar way to the location search. However, you'll notice that the text in most of the entries in the results table is displayed with strike-through effect: this indicates that the NOTAM is no longer valid, either it was cancelled, or it expired.

Here's the detailed view of the NOTAM on the second row above. Note the status given as cancelled, and the date of cancellation is given. This information can be useful in determining the sequence and timing of decisions taken regarding aviation activities.
