How they rolled... Photos taken on Bulford Training Area in January 1990.
Can you make out the vehicles as they pass in front of the wood?
Breaking all the rules of tactical concealment, the convoy vehicles drive along the crest of the down, and are silhouetted against the sky.
Almost the head of the convoy. The lead HMMWV has already passed out of shot to the right, it's followed by a Blazer (DFC or FLC), a M925, a TEL, then the inter HMMWV. The overwatch HMMWV is pulling out to the flank of the foreground group (left of shot), to cover the cell as it rises out of the bottom and bunches up to make a turn.
The TEL, inter, and LCC are now clearly in shot, and the overwatch has found its position.
The LCC is followed by the fuel-carrying M925.
A second TEL passes the overwatch.
Another M925 passes the overwatch.
The head makes the turn into the edge of some woodland.
The vehicles merge with the winter mist as they descend into another bottom.
