LAGR855 launched with a full fuel load and arrived at the refuelling track west of Gibraltar at flight level 230, some 100 nautical miles ahead of the C-17. It seems refuelling was declined: the C-17 continued at cruising altitude, while the KC-135 turned off the track and returned to Mildenhall.

The second KC-135 LAGR854 did not launch and returned to Mildenhall on 2023-04-25.

Both tankers had deployed from Mildenhall to Rota on 2023-04-22.
